or . . . “Who Killed The Easter Bunny?!”
I didn’t forget how to drive, but the Easter Bunny forgot how and where to run! Yeah, you read that right.
It was the dead of night, about 3am-ish, and I was alone on the I-90 Tollway just west of Gary, Indiana. It was shortly before Easter. I’m booking along about 70mph when SUDDENLY out of nowhere, a few feet in front of my car, darted out a rabbit! Even with my super-human fast reflexes, there was absolutely zero time to react. By the sound of the thud, along with the vibration through the steering wheel, I knew that I had creamed that bunny – “flat rabbit”! L
Mind you, this was not just ANY rabbit. No siree! This furry creature was literally as big as a small to medium sized dog! Now, before you jump to conclusions about my eyesight, or my hallucinations, or any other sort of altered state of mind, allow me to declare to you that I do not drink, I do not take drugs, I do not smoke anything, and I was wide awake. I know what I saw, and I saw a huge, big-eared rabbit!!! I will also say, that as an outdoorsman with many years of hunting under my belt, I have never witnessed such a specimen. Only in freaky animal photos on the internet have a seen one of these creatures.
I didn’t think much more about it, as I figured I’d flattened that sucker good and that was the end of it.
When I arrive back in Milwaukee, I discovered that this hip-hoppy creature has taken out the front end of my car! REALLY!!! When I confided to a few of my so-called “friends” of this unfortunate incident, they gave me heck for killing the Easter Bunny! (I should have charged them for the amusement at my expense)
What was done was done, and now it was time to make things look new again. My first go to when seeking out business services in my area is always the local Christian Resource Guide. Why? Because it has never failed to provide me with a business service that was not only fairly priced, but also a service that was above my expectations.
I decided on Forest Home CARSTAR Auto Body & Glass in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When I arrived there, I was greeted by one of the co-owners, Debbie Zabel. She demonstrated compassion for me, knowing how bad I felt about killing the Easter Bunny and all. Her husband and fellow co-owner, Marty Zabel, said he’d have it looking like new in no time at all and they’d take care of everything with my insurance company. Debbie even gave me a ride home and offered to pick me up when it was completed.
If I remember correctly, it only took a day, maybe two, to have everything ready to go.
Here’s where it gets really good: Upon entering my car, I was greeted with a microfiber cloth bunny with an Easter egg on my dash board. They had also given me “Parting Gifts” of a nice cloth bag, a stainless steel insulted non-spill coffee cup, and a windshield scraper. Best of all, the car looked perfectly new!
OK, so you may ask, “Bill, why all this story about bunnies and dinged up cars?”
I am so glad you asked! It is THAT TIME of the year again. (It happens every year) It’s called the return of snow and ice to the roadways. You KNOW there are people driving all around you that have forgotten how to behave under such conditions; some never learned in the first place. There are those people in 4-wheel drive vehicles that don’t realize that 4-wheel drive, although great at helping you to get going, is absolutely useless in helping them to stop. There are those who have come here from warmer climates and are hopelessly clueless in white stuff.
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF in the unfortunate situation of needing to make your car look and drive like new again, I cannot say enough about Marty and Debbie Zabel at Forest Home Carstar Auto Body & Glass in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are located at 3135 West Forest Home Avenue. Their phone number is 414-384-6360.
It’s always excellent when the people you’re doing business with are the actual owners instead of some paid employee that is just punching the clock. They’re in it for the long haul and will bend over backwards to make sure that you are 100% satisfied. On top of that, Marty and Debbie are really good people. Really!
